BARTON, VT-Mildred M. (O’Connor) Duff, 91 formerly of 29 St. Elmo Road, Worcester died Monday, January 10th in Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton, VT. Her husband, John A. Duff died in 1968. She leaves a son, John C. Duff of Spencer, 2 daughters, Susan Guilmette of Barton, VT and Anne Lynch of E. Sandwich, MA, 6 grandchildren, Brian Duff of Lawrenceburg, IN, Dr. Kevin Duff of Iowa City, IA, Laura Larose of Princeton, MA, Christopher Duff of Brighton, MA, Colleen Heiden of S. Boston, MA, and Katherine Lynch of Arlington, VA, 8 great grandchildren. A brother, John G. O’Connor predeceased her.
She was born in Brattleboro, VT the daughter of Charles R. and Isabel (Gorman) O’Connor, graduated high school from Mt. St. Joseph’s Academy in W. Hartford, graduated from New Britain Normal School in New Britain, CT and Worcester State College in Worcester, MA. Mrs. Duff worked as a teacher in Hartford, CT and for various Worcester Public Schools for 25 years including the Winslow Street School and West Tatnuck School, until retiring in 1978. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament, the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Hillcrest Country Club, Golf League on Tuesdays.
The funeral is Friday, January 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, January 13th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
