Robert W. Sylvia, MSGT USAF ret., 71, of Memorial Avenue, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Sandra M. (Savasta) Sylvia.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John R. and Marion G. (Martin) Sylvia. He had lived in Johnston since 2005 and had previously lived in North Providence after his retirement from military service. He retired from the USAir Force after serving for 20 years.
He was a retired mail handler for the US Postal Service. He was active at Greenville Baptist Church where he had been a member of the Mission Board and the Board of Trustees.
He was the beloved father of Cherie Tucker and her husband, Greg, of Salisbury, MD, Michael Sylvia of Johnston and Marc Sylvia of Johnston and the beloved Papa of Carson, Morgan, Logan and Raegan. He is also survived by his sisters: Patricia Landry of Falmouth, MA and Noreen Fernandes of Warwick, his extended family, including many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful companions, Dolce and Kaiha.
Funeral Thursday at 8:45am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Commital service with Military Honors will be at 10am in RI Veterans Cemetery. Memorial service Thursday at 11:30am in Greenville Baptist Church, Greenville. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm.
