Dr. Francis Joseph Murphy passed away Thursday in the Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, Md. He was the beloved husband of Francine Murphy.
Born June 7, 1944, in Olyphant, son of the late James and Betty Vasey Murphy, he was the loving father of Kevin and wife, Audrey; Daniel and wife, Christine; and Michael and wife, Melony; brother of James Murphy and wife, Gloriajean; and beloved grandfather of Brian and Patrick Murphy.
He was a graduate of Olyphant High School, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and earned a master's degree and doctorate degree from the George Washington University. He was a retired school administrator, guidance counselor and football coach.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant, Pa. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Olyphant.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, Pa. Friends are asked to proceed directly to church Monday.
