JOHNSON CITY, TN: Floyd K. Darby, age 90, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, died Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Asbury Place in Johnson City, TN.
He was the husband of the late Maude “Betty” (Dick) Darby.
Born in Tewksbury on May 9,1914, he was the son of the late Homer L. and Myrtle (Mooers) Darby.
Mr. Darby attended Tewksbury schools and was graduated from Lowell Vocational School in 1930.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the former F.I. Carter & Sons Greenhouse Co. of Tewksbury. While living in Tewksbury he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was currently a member of the Grace Tabernacle Independent Baptist Church of Brooksville, FL.
Mr. Darby was a member and past vice president the Brooksville, FL Lions Club.
He was a former member of the Tewksbury Lions Club, the Wamesit Lodge AF & AM of Tewksbury and the former Andover Grange.
He is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Bruce and Hazel Darby of Johnson City, TN, Donald and Betty Darby of Manassas, VA and Gary and Denise Darby of Penacook, NH; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 3 sisters; Irma Peatman of Andover, Vesta Darby and Marilyn Gemmell both of Tewksbury; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Darby was the father of the late Kenneth Darby and brother of the late Merwyn, Vernon and Thelma Darby and Norma Lawson.
Graveside services will be announced at a later date. A memorial service was held in Johnson City, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, P.O. Box 4251 CRS, Johnson City, TN 37602-4251. Local arrangements entrusted to Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.
