Eleanor C. Settle, 87, of Bedford, NH, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Genesis Healthcare at Ridgewood Center, Bedford, NH surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. She was born on September 18, 1927 in Haverhill, MA, a daughter of the late Eugene and Edna Moore.
Eleanor was a quintessential seamstress, with her specialty being wedding dresses. She never needed a pattern, just a customer’s idea. She worked from her home in Derry, NH, as well as worked as a cashier and tailor of the Montgomery Ward men’s department for 20 years. While living in Derry, NH, she also taught sewing to children in 4-H for many years, and was very active in St. Luke’s Methodist Church, serving many years as the head of the Sunday School program. For the past nine years, she was a resident of the Briston Manor Retirement Community, Bedford, NH.
She loved to spend summers at the beach at Plum Island, MA.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Kisielewski and Vickie Ellen Wolper, both of Manchester, NH, one granddaughter, Sarah Gelinas and Timothy Mullane, of Claremont, NH; one great grandson, Noah Mullane and his sister Meghan Mullane; son-in-law, Barry Wolper; and close family friend, Wendy Thayer. Mrs. Settle was predeceased by her first husband Victor Woodbury in 1977 and later her second husband William Settle in 1984.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Genesis Healthcare at Ridgewood Center for the compassionate loving care they provided. Memorial contributions may be made to the Genesis Employee Foundation, 101 East State Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348, in appreciation of the staff at Ridgewood Center, or to their favorite charity.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH, followed by a service held at the funeral home at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry Road, East Derry, NH, at a later date.
