Hanson – Joseph V. Connelly 71, died Tuesday February 24 in Tufts Medical Center Boston after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Carol (Cummings) Connelly.
Born in Boston and raised in Quincy he was the son of the late Joseph and Rita (Brennan) Connelly.
Joe along with his wife Carol have been longtime South Shore residents and prior to his move to Hanson 20 years ago had lived in Whitman for 30 years.
Before retiring, he had worked for the Boston Gas Company for 25 years and had also worked many years for the Alvin Hollis Company.
He enjoyed doing repairs and was truly “Mr. Fix It” but his greatest joy was his grandchildren whom he adored.
In addition to his wife Carol he is survived by his loving children Michael Connelly of Whitman, Mark Connelly and his wife Jo-Ann of Hebron, CT, Dawn Caperello and her husband Joseph of Whitman and L’Oren Connelly-Rogerson and her husband Michael of Abington, his siblings Geno Connelly of East Bridgewater, Paul Connelly of OK, Thomas Connelly of Quincy, Patricia La’Bollita of Rockland and Kathleen Durfee of Weymouth. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Sunday March 1 at 6:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 2:00-6:00 PM.
