Jo-Ann Shirley Martin, 72 of Manchester, NH, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Elliot Hospital of Manchester, after a brief illness. She was born May 22, 1942 in Platka, FL. and was a daughter of the late, Francis J. and Marion R. (Stoddert) Rivers. Jo-Ann was a self- proclaimed “Army Brat” and grew up in many locations with Burlington, VT being her primary location. She had been a resident of the Manchester area for the past 11 years. She enjoyed knitting and reading and will forever be remembered as a beloved “Mother to all”.
Members of the family include her three daughters and their husbands, Patricia A. & Paul Wernig of Manchester, Mary E. & Ricardo Reyes of Londonderry, and Jo-Ann S. and Gregory Stratton of Manchester, five grandchildren, Samantha, Brendan, Arianna, Kasey, and William, her sister, Cynthia Rivers of Glen Rock, PA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Donald J. Martin in 2009.
Calling hours were held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday at 10 am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Allen 56 Camp Allen Road Bedford, NH 03110-6606.
