Obituary

Rev. Daniel Lee McEachin, 63, of Tifton passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Tift Avenue Church of God with Dr. Bill George, Rev. Ray Dawson and Rev. Wayne Merritt officiating. Rev. McEachin will be laid to rest at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Williamson-McCormick Cemetery in Hazlehurst with Rev. Bob Powell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 24, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tift Avenue Church of God. Rev. McEachin will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Eric Dawson, Drew Sutton, Caleb Dawson, David Nitz, Kevin Mendel and Robbie Shepherd will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all ministers and their wives that are in attendance.

Rev. McEachin was born February 11, 1952 in Hazlehurst and was the son of Daniel Oween McEachin and Ursa Walker McEachin Buie, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Kay McEachin, who died in 2001; his step-father, Ralph Buie; and two brothers, Larry McEachin and Ronnie McEachin. He was a graduate of Lee College and the Church of God School of Theology, where he earned his Masters of Divinity degree. He began in the ministry in 1971 and became an Exhorter in the Church of God in 1973. He was an ordained Bishop in the Church of God and was an evangelist for ten years and a pastor for 34 years. At present, he was a member and the senior pastor at Tift Avenue Church of God. In addition to Tift Avenue Church of God, Rev. McEachin pastored many churches in South Georgia including Jeffersonville Church of God and Cornerstone Church of God in Columbus. He served on the South Georgia State Council for ten years; the Evangelism Board for Six years; the World Missions Board for six years; the Ministerial Internship Board for two years and was currently serving; and was a State Trustee for five years. He was District Overseer in Columbus from 1995 to 2009 and in Tifton from 2009 to 2013 and served as State Evangelist in North Carolina and South Georgia.

Rev. McEachin loved his grandbabies, his Harley “Second Wind” and his special boxer friend “Daniel’s HiDee”. He enjoyed teaching students World Religion at Abraham Baldwin College and had a strong passion for missions. He was honored to be guest speaker at various conferences and camp meetings, where Bible Teaching was his passion.

Rev. McEachin is survived by his wife, Renee Willetts McEachin of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Mark and Ashley McEachin of Columbus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Nicole and Eric Dawson of Edgefield, South Carolina and April Michelle and Andrew Sutton of Harrison, Tennessee; one brother, Cadle McEachin of Vidalia; five step-brothers, Kermit Buie, Howard Buie, Bruce Buie, Dale Buie and Timothy Buie; five step-sisters, Patricia Buie Harrell, Betty Buie Ziegler, Peggy Buie Garrison, Mary Buie Jones and Dana Buie Faircloth; and seven grandchildren, Alissa Dawson, Anna Dawson, Jonathan Dawson, Avery McEachin, Reid McEachin, Maggie Sutton and Jack Sutton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Church of God World Missions, People for Care and Learning, Church of God State Office, 42 Kell Road, Tifton, GA 31793.
