WALTER J. CASEY, JR., age 74, a Hingham resident for over 40 years, died on Tuesday, Jan. 4th at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham after a long illness.
Mr. Casey was born and raised in Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston Latin High School, Boston College and was a graduate of Brown University in Providence, RI where he received his Masters Degrees in Education and Mathematics. He was a teacher by profession and taught at Brighton High School and also at Northeastern University, retiring in 1995. He coached football for many years at Brighton High School and also at Hyde Park High School. Mr. Casey was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Husband of the late Barbara M. (Tobin) Casey, he leaves his children; Arthur "AJ" Casey of Hingham, Cathianne Taylor of Hanover, Christopher J. Casey of Hingham and Deborah F. Casey of Weymouth. He was the brother of Frank Casey of Braintree, Rosemary Casey of Quincy, William Casey of Georgetown, MA., and was the grandfather of Stephen Casey of Weymouth, and William and Janet M. Taylor both of Hanover.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 8th at 10 AM at St. Paul's Church, Hingham Square.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
The interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
