Obituary

LOWELL—Dorothy R. (Mask) Carter, 59 years old, died unexpectedly, at her home Friday morning December 31st. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Carter, Sr., who died in 1992.

She was born in Louisville, KY, on November 12, 1945, a daughter of the late David and Malissa (Carney) Mask. She attended Kentucky schools. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant education at the Lincoln Vocational Center, in Louisville; and also attended Knoxville College.

Mrs. Carter has resided in Lowell for the past 30 years and had been employed at the Christian Hill Nursing Home and the Lowell Visiting Nurse Association as a Nurses Aide and Lab Technician.

She was a communicant of St. Michaels’ Church, and a member of the Legion of Mary. She was a former CCD Teacher at the church, and was an active grandparent at the J.G. Pyne Elementary School, and various dance studios in the Greater Lowell area.

Surviving her are two sons and one daughter-in-law: Martin L. Carter, of Lowell; Charles “Chuck” and Beth Carter, of Tilton, NH; two daughters: Malissa S. Carter, and Loretta “Michelle” Carter, both of Lowell; six grandchildren: Jenna and Devon Carter, Sierra, Brooke, Nathaniel, and Isaiah Krehbiel, all of Lowell; her mother in law, Loretta Morris of Louisville, KY; four brothers: Clarence Mask, of Milwaukee, WI; David Mask, John Mask and Beverly Mask, all of Louisville, KY; two sisters: Mable Curry, and Irene Hughes, both of Louisville, KY; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM on Wednesday, January 5th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered Thursday, January 6th, at 10 AM at ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH. Burial to be held on Monday, January 10th, in Louisville, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church or the American Red Cross.
