Obituary

William Barros, 72, of New Bedford died April 3, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Anna (Morse) Barros and Arthur A. Lopes.

Mr. Barros was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life.

He was formerly employed as a custodian with the New Bedford School Department and the Claremont Company at the Bayberry Housing Development until his retirement. He had also been employed at Chamberlain Manufacturing.

Mr. Barros served in the U.S. Army in England during the Korean Conflict.

He was an avid card player.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mary Pimental, Lydia Miranda, Julia Silva, Charles Barrows, Henry Barrows, Joaquim "Jack" Barros, John Barros, Arthur Barros, Walter "Dickie" Barros and Arthur Lopes, Jr.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordSaturday, April 6th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Friday, April 5th from 4-8 PM.

Interment St. John's Cemetery
