Shrewsbury – Raymond F. Looney, 89, of 33 Hillside Ave died on Sunday January 2 in his home.
His wife Violet (Grenier) Looney died in 1998. Mr. Looney is survived by a son Raymond F. Looney Jr. of Auburn; two daughters Maureen K. Pedroli of Boylston and Susan E. Crider of Cataumet, MA; a sister Helen Rittberg of Worcester; nine grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a brother John Looney; two sisters Mary and Alice Looney. Mr. Looney was born in Worcester son of Daniel and Catherine (Ward) Looney.
Mr. Looney was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He worked as a plant superintendent for Botwinik Brothers of Massachusetts Inc. retiring in 1985. He previously worked as a machinist at Norton’s and Reed and Prince Company. He was an avid Red Soxs Fan and was a fan of all Boston sports teams. He was a member of St. Anne’s Church.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday January 4 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a mass at 10 AM in St. Anne’s Church 130 Boston Turnpike. Entombment will be held in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home on Monday Jan. 3.
