Maria Civita (Di Nitto) Gallinaro, a long-time Medford resident died Thursday at the Woburn Nursing Center. She was 96.
Born in Gaeta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Anna (Piccolo) DiNitto. A Medford resident for more than 60 years, Maria was a retired seamstress and had worked for the former Trimont Clothing Co., Boston. A member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union, she was also a member of Medford’s Italian-American Senior Citizen Club.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Gallinaro. She was a devoted mother to Teresa Coughlin and her husband Eugene of Falmouth, Ann Velardocchia and her husband Angelo of Carlisle, Nicholas Gallinaro and his wife Elaine of Devon, PA. She was a loving grandmother to Terry and Nancy Coughlin, David and Dianne Vellardocchia, Nicole and John Gallinaro. She was the great grandmother of John, Thomas, Julia, Karen, Donna, Steve and is also survived by 6 great-great grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Mary Ann Buonaugurio of Medford.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
