Louis Stella ,of Somerville, passed away Saturday in the Courtyard Nursing Care Center Medford.
Born in Woburn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Palma (Russo) Stella. Louis worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement.
His life was his family and when he found the time he was always out and about, either at flee markets or yard sales, meeting new people and always making friends along the way. He was a true sportsman with an enthusiasm for fishing and bird hunting. The family spent many years at a summer cottage on Sunset lake in Hampstead, NH. All of these things meant a lot to him but his passion was clocks. A member of the National association of watch and clock collectors. Regarded locally as a serious collector and his knowledge of inner workings were often sought out by many.
He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Calia.) Devoted father of Pamela C. Durazzano and her husband Louis of Derry, NH. Loving Grandfather of David Durazzano and his wife Sheri of Hooksett, NH, and Jennifer Durazzano - Smith and her husband Matthew of Somerville. Loving Great Grandfather of Dylan and Brady Durazzano of Hooksett. Dear brother of Joe Stella and his wife Betty of Woburn, the late Benjamin Stella,and Mary Bastolla. Loving great uncle of Mary Beth Calia of Somerville. Also survived by nieces and nephews of the Stella and Bastolla Families.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine Of Genoa, 179 Summer Street, Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
