Obituary

SALEM - Charles J. Diluiso, 84, of Salem, husband of the late Dorothy V. (Manning) Diluiso, died Friday afternoon, December 31, 2004, at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem, following a short illness.

Born in Topsfield, he was the son of the late John and Caroline (DiGiovanni) Diluiso.

Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed for 41 years by GTE Sylvania at the Loring Avenue, Salem, plant and was a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club.

Mrs. Diluiso was a resident of Salem for most of his life, a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, and attended daily Mass at the Carmelite Chapel in Peabody, where he assisted as an usher and in other capacities. He was active at the Salem Council on Aging, both as a member and a volunteer, and was a longtime member of the Salem Heritage Days Committee. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Fraternity Lodge #118 in Salem, where he was the Warden, Inside Guardian, a member of the Relief Committee and was the Left Supporter of the Noble Grand.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and William Herwig of Salem, Joy and Thomas Smith of N. Conway, NH, five grandchildren, Wendy Herwig of Screven, GA, Tricia and her husband Jody Lane of Haverhill, Scott Herwig and David Smith of Salem, Specialist Michael Smith, US Army, currently serving in Iraq, and his wife Randi of Kileen, TX, six great grandchildren, Chloe, Molly and James Jr. of Screven GA, Travis of Haverhill, Stephanie of N. Conway, NH, Mia of Kileen, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph Diluiso, Alfonso Diluiso, Amerigo “Del” Diluiso, and three sisters, Helen Diluiso, Virginia Weed and Ermina Santos.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Visiting Hours are Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with an Odd Fellows Burial Service at 7 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
