Obituary

Frank J. Cordima, a long-time Medford resident and retired US postal worker, died Tuesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 93.


Mr. Cordima was born and raised in Boston’s South End, the son of the late Candeloro and the late Maria (Lunari) Cordima. A Worrld War II Army Veteran, Frank served with the 496th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in Europe under General Patton. A Medford resident for 50 years, Frank was a member of the Third order of St. Francis, and served as an auxiliary police officer in Belmont.


He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Raffoul), who died in November. He was a devoted father of Charles Cordima of Valleejo, CA, Michael Cordima of Saugus, George Cordima of Andover, and Francis Cordima of North Andover. He was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Carmella Bonano, Frances Ryan, Mickey Soffrin, Joseph Cordima, the late Lea, Anthony and Peter Cordima and also leaves many nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends may visit Sunday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Medford, Monday at 9 AM, with the Rev. Patrick McLaughlin celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
