Obituary

CHICOPEE – Robert E. Morin, 78, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 13, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on November 17, 1936, a beloved son of the late Leo and Eva (St. Germain) Morin. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from the former Rosary High School and lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to Chicopee around 1959. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He previously worked at the former Texon Corporation in Holyoke and was last employed as a lineman for the Holyoke Water and Power Company, which later became Northeast Utilities. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he was a great provider to his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan A. (Bach) Morin who was Called Home on February 22, 1992; his loving son, Alan L. Morin; his dear brother, Roger Morin; his dear sister, Carol Murray; and his dear brother-in-law, Donald Pronovost. He leaves his beloved wife, Lucille E. (Demers) Peltier-Morin. They were married on July 15, 1994 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 20 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his loving children, Robert P. Morin and his wife, Ann, and Steven R. Morin, all of Chicopee, Linda E. Stock of Granby, Gary M. Morin and his wife, Sherry, of Mendon, MA, and David E. Peltier and his wife, April, Russell G. Peltier and his wife, Cheryl, and Lisa A. Duffy, all of Chicopee; his nine cherished grandchildren, Robert and Kathryn Morin, Robert, Ian and Lauren Stock, Jake and Michael Morin, Shannon Wilson and her husband, Richard, and Thomas Duffy; his cherished great-granddaughter, Jordan Wilson; his dear brother, Richard Morin and his wife, Nancy, of Springfield; his dear sister, Shirley Pronovost of Chicopee; his dear brother-in-law, William “Bill” Murray, of Springfield; his dear sister-in-law, Sister Therese Demers, SSA of Chicopee; his dear brother-in-law, Donald G. Demers of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the Morin, Bach, Demers, and Peltier families. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, February 18, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 219 Granby Road, (Rte. 202), South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Sainte Rose de Lima Church, c/o 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 or to the Holyoke Medical Center Oncology Department, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
