Rita M. Stinson, 70, of Laconia, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital.
She was born on August 9, 1944, in Franklin, NH, daughter of George E. Stinson, Sr., and Eva (Spicer) Stinson, and had lived in the Lakes Region since 1965.
Rita graduated from Franklin High School in 1962. During her working career, she did factory work, including 10 years at Laconia Needle Company. She retired in 2006 after five years as a homemaker companion at Community Health and Hospice.
Rita enjoyed roller skating for many years when she was younger, and she enjoyed spending time with her brother George and his family. She also enjoyed a good box of chocolates.
Rita was predeceased by her father and mother, and her sister, Helen O’Dougherty, and nieces Gloria, Linda, and Susan O’Dougherty.
She is survived by her brother, George Stinson, Jr., and his wife, Cheryl, of Penacook; sisters Florence Griffin, of Sanbornton, and Diane Stinson, of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. An Urn Burial will take place in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin where she will be buried with her sister and nieces.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lakes Region General Hospital and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center for their compassionate care of Rita.
In lieu of flowers, it was Rita’s wish that memorial donations be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice or to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
As Rita would often say: “Take care of yourselves and take care of each other”.
