CHICOPEE – Everett J. Maciolek, 87, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on March 8, 1927, a beloved son of the late Julian A. and Veronica M. (Kozik) Maciolek. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from local schools and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Radarman Third Class. He received the American Theatre Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed for many years as a tire builder at the former Fisk Tire Company, which later became the Uniroyal Corporation in Chicopee. Following the closing of the plant, he went to work at the Titeflex Corporation in Springfield. During his leisure time, Everett enjoyed bowling in many of the local leagues. Most of all, he was a wonderful provider to his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his devoted wife and best friend, Eleanore J. “Ellie” (Denette) Maciolek. They were married on October 8, 1966 at the former Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his three loving children, Timothy J. Maciolek and his fiancée, Kathryn Mullaney, of Dunbarton, NH, Laurie A. Cady and her husband, Jeff, of Belchertown and Rebecca L. Holland and her husband, Scott, of Hillsborough, NH; his six cherished grandchildren, Hannah and Emma Maciolek, Nathaniel and Julia Cady, and Alex and Ashley Holland; his dear sister, Veronica Galuska and her husband, Eugene, of Granby; his dear brother, Robert Maciolek of Chicopee; his dear sisters-in-law of the Denette family, Bernice Shea and her husband, Daniel, and Christine Los and her husband, John, all of Chicopee; his dear brother-in-law of the Denette family, Lee Wallace of Washington; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Maciolek and Denette families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear sister-in-law, Alida Wallace. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Committal Service with US Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
