Worcester—Mary M. (Alikonis) Saulenas, 89, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Memorial Hospital. She leaves her husband of 64 years, Frank V. Saulenas; two daughters, Carolyn Anderson of Bergenfield, NJ and Judith Atwater, currently of Worcester; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Marie Bertsch, who died in 1993 and a sister, Margaret Patrick.
She was born in Worcester, a daughter of John and Margaret (Sinkavitch) Alikonis. She graduated from Commerce High School. Mary retired from the Worcester Police Dept. where she was a clerk typist. Mary was also a musician, playing an accordion. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church.
The funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 3, from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church, 236 Lincoln St. Burial will be private at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home.
