Carolyn Ann Land Moore of Tifton, wife of the late Loyd Moore, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Dillard Ensley officiating. Mrs. Moore will be laid to rest at Leila United Methodist Church Cemetery in Colquitt County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Michael Moore Jr., Joshua Moore, Mitchell Moore, Jackson Dunn, Samuel Dunn, Broc Moore and Buck Moore will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie and Earline Moore, Buster and Quinnette Mercer, Harold and Maggie Tawzer, Opal and Gopher Hines, Geneva Haymon, Eva May Stephens, Christine Whitley, Carolyn Warren, Jeanette Dunlap, Vercie Hester, Ann McGhee, Tiffany Hathcock, Tammy Hathcock, Paige Whiddon Baker and Paula Pittman.
Born in Worth County, March 1934 to Bessie Hayes Land and Arthur Land. Her mother later married Nathaniel Wynn. Significant people in her raising were her Aunt Lois and Uncle Roy Baker, her grandparents, George and Sarah Hayes and especially her mother.
She married in 1950 to Loyd Moore and eventually settled in Tift County. A farmer’s wife and mother of 11, her life’s influence is beyond measure. She enjoyed fishing and canning vegetables with her loved ones. Many of her kids and grandkids sat watching from the kitchen counter to learn her cooking secrets. Her faith in God, work ethic and unconditional love are treasures left to her family. Each child felt they were her favorite because she made them feel so loved.
Preceded in death by Loyd Moore (spouse), John Alex and Jerry Lewis Moore (sons), Kayla Boyd (granddaughter), Bessie Wynn (mother), George, Gordon, Norman, Haywood and Glynn Wynn (brothers) and Bobby Turner (one like a son).
Survived by nine children and their spouses, Clinton (Susan), Kenneth (Anita), Ricky (Tonita), Michael (Wendy), Howard (Shelby), Darrell (Sherri), all of Tifton, Craig (Vicki) of Barwick, Mary (Mike Dunn) of Macon, and Harvey (fiancée Michelle Dimon) of Columbus. Grandchildren, Lisa Hodnett, Ginger Farmer, Darlene Westberry, Shannon Hester, Kim Baker, Michael Moore Jr., Josh Moore, Niki Dasher, Broc Moore, Buck Moore, Emily Sumner, Whitney Tomlinson, Cherish Osborn, Amanda Booker, Jackson Dunn, Carla Dunn, Samuel Dunn, Holly Moore, Katelyn Moore, Jessica Merritt, Heidi Wilcox, Mitchell Moore and Maggie Moore; and 38 great-grandchildren and still coming; and a sister, Dolly Lashley of FL.
