BEVERLY – Nancy Claire (Reed) Moulton, formerly of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on her 85th birthday.
Born in Gloucester on February 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Ruth H. (Conant) Reed. She was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1948 and truly enjoyed attending her class reunions.
Nancy was a former member of the Gloucester American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Martha Washington Council #46 Order of Eastern Star, Pocahontas Ucita Council #46 of the Improved Order of Red Men.
As a teenager, Nancy waitressed tables at the Tavern on the Harbor and was a clerk at W.G. Brown Department Store. She had also worked at O’Donnell-Usen Fisheries on the Fort and Gorton’s of Gloucester.
Nancy loved all her children and enjoyed visiting and sightseeing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children, Russell G. Moulton, Jr., Annette M., wife of Robert Spanks, Jr., Cecil J., husband of Estrellita “Linda” (Torres) Moulton, Wayne R., husband of Lisa (Stillman) Moulton, Darlene R. Moulton, and Jeffrey S., husband of Michelle (Benoit) Moulton, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters-in-law, Barbara Reed and Jean Reed and brother-in-law, Cecil J., Jr., husband of Dorothy Moulton. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Joann (Wilson) Moulton, granddaughter, Amanda Lee Moulton, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cora and Roy Coull, Priscilla and Henry Josephson; brothers, Roger and James Reed; sister-in-law, Alice, and her husband Heber Feener; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Capt. Cecil and Ida Moulton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Family services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, expressions may be made in her memory to the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff and management of both The Landmark at Oceanview Assisted Living and Essex Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for the care and devotion given Nancy over the past seven years.
