Nell Copeland, 86, of Tifton Georgia passed away Friday February 6, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Funeral Home for Funerals. Pastor Gerald Purvis of New River Baptist Church will officiate. Mrs. Copeland will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Copeland was born on January 4, 1929 in Omega, the daughter of Howard and Jose Lovett Brogdon, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Homer Franklin “Bud” Brogdon. She graduated from Norman Park High School in 1945 and was crowned “Miss Omega” in 1948.
She was retired from Amoco Oil Company in Atlanta. She was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton. Mrs. Copeland devoted her life to her immediate and extended family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved all flowers and had a passion for cooking and her family.
Mrs. Copeland is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lennon Copeland of Tifton and her 3 children and 3 grandchildren; Son John Copeland, wife Jackie and grandson Carl of Jupiter, FL; Lynn Copeland and partner Jean Toole of Avondale Estates; Tim Copeland, wife Sandra and grandchildren Carlie and Madison of Union, KY. Other survivors are her sister, Linda Hamner Meders of Tifton, and her two brothers Kenny Hamner of Crossland and Mike Hamner of Covington; and a large extended family.
