Fairhaven – Maria Luisa Chipelo, age 84, passed away on February 5, 2015 at Our Lady’s Haven in Fairhaven. She was the loving wife of Manuel A. Chipelo and the daughter of the late Rosa (de SA) and Antonio Chipelo.
Born in Murtosa, Portugal, Mrs. Chipelo moved to this country in 1974 and worked as a Stitcher for many years until her retirement.
Her family includes 3 children: Maria Miranda and her husband, Alfredo, of New Bedford, Manuela Francisco and her husband, Antonio, of Dartmouth, and Rosa Butts and her husband, David, of Georgia; 4 siblings: Antonio Chipelo of Portugal, Henrique Chipelo of New Jersey, Jose Chipelo of New Bedford, and Laurinda Diogo of Portugal, as well as 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Several siblings predeceased her.
Her funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at -10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
