Hugh Grady McCrimmon, 84, of Bonaire, Georgia, formerly of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his daughter’s residence in Bonaire.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Arbor Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with Pastor David Bernthal officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. McCrimmon was born March 23, 1930 in Telfair County, Georgia, to the late Jim and Ethel Zeigler McCrimmon. He lived in the Fitzgerald community all of his life. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the minesweeper USS Firecrest. Mr. McCrimmon was a local farmer for many years and he loved to fish and travel.
He is survived by his daughter: Karen & David Butler of Bonaire; stepson: Clay & Alice Hunter of Byron; three grandsons: Eric Lane, Scott Lane, and Mason Hunter; a sister: Earlene & Roy Sanford of Folkston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas McCrimmon & J.D. McCrimmon. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Glenda and Jean for their special care and comfort they afforded him prior to his passing. The family would also like to give thanks to Shelly Pridgen and Chase Clark for being long time companions and friends to Mr. McCrimmon.
