Griffin of Brockton, March 31, 2002 John Leo Griffin 83 years. Husband of the late Arlene R. (Bailey) Griffin. Father of Maureen D’Amico and her husband Joseph of Dedham, Karen DiGravio and her husband Ron of Marshfield, Sheila Griffin-Manning and her husband James of Dedham and Michael Griffin and his wife Joan of Avon.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 9 AM. Burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Avon. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

Obituary Information

Mr. Griffin died Sunday evening in the Hollywell Healthcare Center, Randolph after a period of failing health.He was born in Abington son of the late Lawrence and Isabelle (MacArthur) Griffin and has been a resident of Brockton since 1945.Mr. Griffin was a graduate of Abington High School. During WW II he served in the US Army in the European Theater receiving the Purple Heart.Before his retirement in 1989 he was the Supervisor and Hearings Officer for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles in Brockton and North Attleboro.He had been a member of the VFW in Abington and enjoyed fishing.Mr. Griffin had been a longtime communicant of St. Colman Church.He is survived by his son and three daughters.Nine grandchildrenOne sister Marguerite “Peg” Meserve of Falmouth and one brother Bernard Griffin of Kendall Park, NJ.He also leaves 14 nieces and nephewsHe was the brother of the late Eleanor Thomas and Patricia Fleming
