Dorothy Dearmon Burkett, 93, of Ocilla, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Pruitt Health in Ocilla.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, February 6, 2015, at Chappell Cemetery in Petal, Mississippi. The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Service in Petal, from 12:30 until 1:30, Friday afternoon prior to the graveside service
Mrs. Burkett was born February 4, 1921, in Washington County, Alabama to the late Sol & Ruth Hearding Dearmon. She was a pharmacy assistant having worked with K & B Drugs in New Orleans, Louisiana & Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Burkett had lived in Ocilla since 1995, coming from Elizabethton, Tennessee. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Cecil & Dorthy Burkett of Ocilla; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Mildred & Joe Hinton of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Marcella May of Pensacola, Florida, and Jean Foy of Bluffton, South Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Burkett, who died on December 26, 2014 and three sisters: Francis Vinson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Cornelia Foster of Brooklyn, Mississippi and Alice Draughn of Petal, Mississippi.
