William Francis Smith, 80 of Medway, died February 1 at Medway Country Manor. He was the husband of Priscilla (Coates) Smith. He was born in Fitchburg in 1935, the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Scott) Smith.
Mr. Smith was raised in Fitchburg and had lived in Framingham for many years prior to his move to Medway 15 years ago. He had worked as Supervisor at the Verizon Corporation for 30 years before his retirement. Bill was a life member of the Verizon Pioneer’s Club and a supporter of AA for the past forty years. Mr. Smith served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Thomas Smith of Fitchburg, William Smith, Jr. of Gardiner, Brenda Stroup of Leominster, and Peter Smith of Tewksbury.
He was father and friend to Peter’s siblings, Roxanne, Jeffrey, Dawn, and David.
He was the brother of the late Stephen Smith.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren
His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 5 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
