Helen Elizabeth Peters, 94, a lifelong resident of Provincetown, died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born February 14, 1920 in Provincetown, she was raised and educated here.
She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Nellie (Davis) Joseph, the youngest of nine children.
Helen and her husband owned and operated Peters Fish Market for several years on Bradford Street. Helen also worked in the housekeeping department at the former Holiday Inn, now the Harbor Hotel. She enjoyed working there along with her friends, and worked well into her 70's.
She was an avid walker around town and enjoyed coffee and sweets with friends and family at the Coffee Pot and Far Land. She was a volunteer at the Provincetown Manor for many years, presently known as Seashore Point. Helen's highlights were her grandchildren and spending time with them. She was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Church.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Keller and his wife Sandy of Rowley and Richard Ramos and his wife Reeny of Wellfleet. Grandchildren, Erik Keller and his wife Bonnie of Beverly, Sean Keller, Josh Keller, Ryan Keller and his wife Megan, all of Salisbury, Aaron Ramos of Whitman and Gina Ramos of Orleans. A great-granddaughter, Lily Elizabeth Keller of Beverly. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis S. Peters, Sr.
Family and friends will honor and remember Helen's life by gathering on her birthday, Saturday, February 14th, at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince Street, Provincetown, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery at a later date in the spring.
