William David Smith, 65, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, January 30, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Smith was born August 21, 1949, in South Carolina, to the late Dewey & Allie Marie Smith. He worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years. He was employed with General Motors as a car assembler at Buick City in Flint, Michigan, as a truck assembler in Arlington, Texas, and finally as a battery assembler with Delphi Automotive Systems in Fitzgerald. He moved to Fitzgerald in 2001. Mr. Smith was raised in Michigan and enjoyed cooking out and grilling with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rosemary Smith of Fitzgerald; their children: Shannon Williams, Tammy Roberts, Ray Charles Smith, Shane Smith, Angie Smith, and Mickey Smith, all of Michigan and Jason Smith of Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren: Landon David Smith, Joshua Steven Smith, Randall Roberts, Jesse Smith, Jamie Williams, Paige Williams, and Bailey Williams; one great-grandchild; three brothers: Jim Smith, Harold Smith, and Bobby Smith; and one sister, Doris Brown, all of Michigan.
