Walter C. Horak, 65, of Sandown, NH, died Saturday, December 25, 2004 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry following a lengthy illness. Mr. Horak was born in Lynn, MA on July 12, 1939, a son of the late John F. and Eileen C. (Curtin) Horak. Mr. Horak was a longtime resident of Sandown, formerly living in Derry and Malden, MA. He worked for Container Consolidation in Medford, MA as a press repairman and later worked for 17 years as a truck driver for ASI of Boston, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, boating and especially walks with his grandchildren. He was also family oriented, loved animals, playing pool and horseback riding.
He is survived by three sons, Daniel E. Horak Sr. and his wife Kelly of Sandown, Walter C. Horak Jr. of Lecanto, FL, Christopher Horak of Manchester, his grandchildren Rachel Marie Horak, Daniel E. Horak Jr., Meghan Horak, as well as five other grandchildren, one sister, Elaine Durkee of Raymond, several nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his friend of 33 years, Gloria Brady of Sandown and his caregivers Beverly Gentile and Donna Anderson. He was predeceased by one son Darrin D. Horak in 1995, his brother Richard Horak, and his sister Fran Robinson.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 29th at 1:00pm in the Center Cemetery, Route 121A, Main Street, Sandown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fremont Animal Hospital, 125 South Road, Fremont, NH 03044.
