David A, Danforth, passed away Christmas Day, December 25, at the Winchester Hopsital, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Edith M. (Adams) for 53 years and he was 79 years old. David was the son of the late Ann Theresa (O´Brien) and John C. Danforth.
He was raised and educated in Cambridge a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School, and Boston State College. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Bonnell Motors in Winchester up untill his passing, and a decorated WW II, US Army Airborne Veteran. A active member of his community and church he held memberships in the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign War, Knight of Columbus and the Billerica Lodge of Elks. He was active member of St. Barbara Parish, having run the first fund raiser for the parish building fund. He also enjoyed yachting and was a past commander of the Charlesgate Yacht Club.
Along with his wife he is survived by his loving daughters, Karen Elizabeth Gendron and her husband Stephen of Westford and Jean Marie Lombardo and her husband Barry of Billerica. He was the loving grandfather of five devoted grandchildren, Jill Gendron of Woburn, Barry Lombardo Jr. of Billerica, Christopher Gendron and his wife Keri of North Carolina, Marc Lombardo and Jaclyn Lombardo of Billerica all who were his great joy in life, and great grandfather of Brady Gendron of North Carolina. Also survived by his brother Robert Danforth of Harwich and his two sisters, Patricia Leavitt of Chelmsoford, and Dorothy Daedlow of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his two brothers Richard and John C. Danforth and his sister Barbara deMont.
His funeral will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn on Wednesday, December 29, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn at 10. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn
