Rose R. (Manzi) Foley, 88, of 102 Treasure Island Road (formerly of 5 Lake Street), died peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 25, after a brief illness. Her husband, James A. Foley, died in 1974.
She leaves two sons, James E. and his wife Lois Foley of Webster, and Richard D. and his wife Susan Foley of Westfield; a brother, James Manzi of Webster; three sisters, Margaret Beresik of Putnam, CT, Emily Desaulniers of Southbridge, and Dolores Manzi of Newton; two grandchildren, James A., of Webster, and Timothy R., of Westfield; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by nine brothers, Frank, Joseph, Frederick, Michael, Albert, George, Edward, John and Henry Manzi, and by four sisters, Carolyn O’Connell, Edith, Julia, and Lois Manzi.
She was born in Webster to Anthony and Benvenuta (Borrasi) Manzi and lived there all her life. For nearly forty-five years, she was a member of the staff of the Chester C. Corbin Public Library in Webster, serving for much of that time as the reference librarian and, on several occasions, as interim director. She was a member of the Saint Louis Church and the Saint Louis League of Catholic Women.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 29, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 28, at the funeral home.
