Obituary

WORCESTER___Stanley Blasko, 92, formerly of Cape Cod and most recently a resident of Clark Manor Nursing Home, died early Wednesday morning.
Mr. Blasko was born February 19, 1912 in Worcester a son of Martin and Malwina (Harasinowicz) Blasko. He was predeceased by his wife Blanche (Jendza) Blasko, who died in 1994. They were married on December 26, 1933.
Mr. Blasko had a long standing in Worcester civics. He was the founding member of the Polish National Independence Club from its inception. Mr. Blasko received a “Key to the City” from then Mayor James O’Brien for his involvement in the Worcester community. While in Worcester Mr. Blasko with his wife and daughter owned and operated three fruit and produce stores known as “Stanley’s Fruit Stores”. In 1964 he relocated to Cape Cod where he and his wife owned Blasko’s Guest House for close to 20 years. Upon retiring Mr. Blasko was involved in the founding of the Polish Society of Cape Cod and the Islands. He was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis and the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
Mr. Blasko is survived by his only child, Florence Teresa (Blasko) Canny, wife of the late Michael P. Canny who died on Aug. 16, 2004. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lisa Petersen of Denver, Co; Susan Towner of Amherst, NH; and Cristina Ethier of Londonderry, NH; four great-grandchildren and several nieces.
The funeral will be held on Monday Dec. 27 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Monday Dec. 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
