Obituary

Edward J. Lamothe Jr. of Falmouth, formerly of Wellesley, died Dec. 22, 2004 at Falmouth Hospital after a brief illness. He was 76. Mr. Lamothe was born in Boston and raised in Newton and Weston. He was educated at Cranwell School and later graduated from Harvard College class of 1950. Mr. Lamothe was a member of the Harvard Club of Boston and Cape Cod where he was a member of the reunion committee and took much pride as the chairman of his 40th reunion. After managing his family’s business in Malden for many years, Mr. Lamothe became a manufacturer’s representative for several steel and aluminum companies, until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Lamothe was an avid reader and sports fan. He enjoyed coaching his son’s little league team for many seasons. He also served as an usher at St. James the Great Parish in Wellesley.
A devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, he leaves behind his wife Jean (Fay) of 46 years, his son Greg and his wife Jill of Apple Valley, MN, and his daughter Dana and her husband Mark of Franklin. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Lauren and Stephen Hayes of Franklin, and Evan, Ryan, and Nicole Lamothe of Apple Valley, MN. He also leaves behind his sister Regina Shilo and her family of Hyannis.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley, on Monday at 8:45 am. Funeral in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley, at 10 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation Monday morning prior to mass from 8:45 – 9:45 am. Interment in Newton Cemetery, Newton. Donations may be made in Edward’s memory to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
