Obituary

Leon N. Hall, age 87, of Groton, a longtime former resident of New London, died Thursday morning at Mariner Healthcare at Bridebrook in Niantic after an extended illness.

Mr. Hall was born in New London on March 10, 1917 the son of John and Laura Hall. A well-known long time resident of New London, he attended local schools and later served in the US Army during World War II.

He was employed for over 30 years at The Variety House in New London before his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church for over 50 years.

He was married to Violet M. (Williams ) Hall on January 10, 1942. Mrs. Hall died May 14, 2002. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jodi Lyn Moore of Groton and Jeffrey S. Hall of R.I., 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and a host of grandnieces and nephews and cousins. He wa spredecased by his daughter, Linda Thyeis Hall and 2 sisters, Alvera George and Laura Harrington.

Leon's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic, on Monday from 9-9:45am with a service at 10am. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
