Maria de Jesus (Ferreira Tavares) Cabral, 92, of Fall River, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Manuel T. Cabral.
Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie de Jesus (Ferreira Tavares) Ferreira Tavares, she had resided in Fall River for over 50 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the former Bristol Knitting Mills. Mrs. Cabral lived her life always giving and helping others. Her immediate and extended families were her top priority and she loved spending time with them as often as possible. She showed her love through her cooking which would always bring everyone together. Mrs. Cabral shared her love for giving by running a clothing and bread ministry, which gave to those in need. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her son: Rev. Charles S. Cabral and his wife Susan of Pawtucket, RI; her daughter: Theresa J. Cabral and her husband Ammer Okely of Fall River; 3 grandchildren: Brad, Brian and Diane Cabral; 3 great grandchildren: Ezekiel, Melody and Emmanuel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Anthony, Joseph, John and Germano Tavares, Alzira Faria and Mary Couto.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Living Hope Assembly of God Church, 100 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI 02860 at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
