Margaret Wetherington Massingill, 79, of Tifton, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Massingill will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 19, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Massingill’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Massingill was born on February 3, 1935 in Adel and was the daughter of Lyman E. Wetherington and Lorene Sanders Wetherington, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard R. Massingill. She was a retired kindergarten teacher with the Tift County School System. She was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Massingill is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa M. and Charlie Trettel of Gainesville and Lorna Neal of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas S. and Kay Massingill of Newnan and Brian E. and Dana Massingill of Valdosta; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Andres and Jennifer Tenorio, Maria and Bob Bruns, Candice and Matt Wells, Joe Massingill, Audrey and Ryan Danbury, Jacob McWhorter, Sarah Neal, Cole Massingill and Rachel Massingill; and six great-grandchildren, Brandon Tenorio, Sophie Wells, Violet Wells, Beau Bruns, Jake Bruns and Cannon Danbury.
