Jean “John” Carrier, 89 of Derry, NH died Saturday January 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Carrier was born in Lawrence, MA on March 3, 1925, a son of the late Lucien and Louise (Cyr) Carrier. After graduating from Lawrence High School, he served in the US Navy during WWII. He was honorably discharged on March 29, 1946. Mr. Carrier worked for Western Electric and AT & T in Lawrence and Andover, MA retiring in 1987 after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Simpson) Carrier of Derry, three sons, John Carrier and his wife Susan, Robert Carrier and his wife Jean, and Gene Carrier, three grandchildren, Jill Sawyer and her husband Aaron, Jamie and Gregg Carrier, two great-granddaughters, Amelia Sawyer and Addyson Sawyer. He also leaves his brother, Frank Carrier.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday January 20, 2015 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral liturgy was offered at 7:00pm in the funeral home with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to your local SPCA.
