Henry “Harold” Barnes Sr., 81, of Tifton, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Barnes at 11 a.m. Monday at Oakridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Ronnie Howell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Barnes’ grandsons, Mike Hall, Brad Hall, Al Greer, Michael Barnes, Shaun Barnes and Clay Willis, will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Barnes was born on Oct. 14, 1933 in Tift County and the son of Henry “Sol” Solomon Barnes and Daisy Wylene Hester Barnes, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Dobbins Moseley; an infant son, Henry H. Barnes Jr.; and a sister, Wylene Barnes West. He was a farmer and retired from J.P. Stevens and Queen Carpet.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Lucille Stone Barnes of Tifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Debora Barnes Hall and husband, Carl, of Tift County; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Shann Harkins Barnes of Lula; a son-in-law, John Moseley of Blakely; a brother-in-law, Ted West of Ohio; six grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Stacie Hall of Tifton, Michelle Hall Greer and husband, Al, of Sycamore, Brad and Carrie Hall of Tifton, Amanda Dobbins Willis and husband, Clay, of Blakely, Michael Barnes of Lula and Shaun and Holly Barnes of Boston, Ky.; and three great-grandchildren, Dannie Ann Hall, Shelby Greer and Bowman Kealous Hall.
