CHICOPEE – Florestine A. “Flo” (Labrie) Belanger, 92, a longtime resident of Holyoke and Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life from Heritage Hall East in Agawam surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Black Lake, Province of Quebec, Canada on April 30, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Adelard and Leontine (Marcoux) Labrie. She was raised in Black Lake, Canada and came to Chicopee around 1923. She graduated from Cathedral High School and, following her marriage in 1946, she moved to Holyoke where she lived until returning to Chicopee around 1984. She was employed as a secretary and office manager at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke. She was later a secretary and office manager at several local businesses. She was a longtime communicant at Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She served both parishes in many capacities including being a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. For her many years of teaching CCD at Precious Blood, she received the prestigious Pope Pius X Award. She was also a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality at both of her parishes. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward J. Belanger who was Called Home on January 30, 1983. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving daughter, Marie Ellen Belanger; her dear sisters and brother, Adrienne Roy and her husband, Wilfred, Aurore Robert and her husband, Roger, and Fernand “Ferde” Labrie and his wife, Rita. She leaves her three loving children, Paul E. Belanger and his wife, Kelly, of Golden, CO, Margaret “Peg” Belanger of Chicopee, and Jo-Anne B. Fiorentino and her husband, James, of Rehoboth, MA; her three cherished grandchildren, Nicole C. Cole and her husband, Steve, Edward Fiorentino and Katherine Fiorentino; her two cherished great-granddaughters, Celeste and Emma Cole; her dear brother, Nelson Labrie and his wife, Theresa, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Belanger and Labrie families. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, January 20, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 4 pm to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
