FRAMINGHAM: Walter Spokowski, 92, died on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
He was born in Northampton on October 23, 1922 the son of the late Samuel Spokowski and Rose (Damianchik) Spokowski.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Martha J. (Osepowicz) Spokowski of Framingham formerly of Wayland and Hatfield.
Father of Philip A. Spokowski and his wife Nancy Spokowski of Wayland; David C. Spokowski and his wife Linda Spokowski of Saratoga Springs, NY; Walter S. Spokowski and his domestic partner Janice M. Grassia of Boston and Falmouth and Steven W. Spokowski of Hudson. Grandfather of Emily Spokowski of New York, NY and Samuel W. Spokowski of St. Paul, MN. Brother of Olga (Spokowski) LaForest of Marshfield; the late Ann (Spokowski) Adams and the late Harry Spokowski. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Walter spent his formative years in Northampton and graduated from Northampton High School. He resided in Framingham for the past 15 years and the previous 41 years he resided in Wayland. He served his country proudly and with honor as a Sergeant with the United States Army during World War II with Company K 377 Infantry Division and was awarded a Bronze Star with a First Oak Leaf Cluster serving in the European Theatre.
He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and went on to have a long and distinguished career of over 30 years as a mechanical engineer. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all the time he spent with his family.
Private family services will be held and interment will be in the Spokowski family plot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
