Obituary

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Inge (Brück) Norton, 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana and a former longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 10, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, IN holding the hands of her loving daughters. She was born in Offenbach, Germany on February 11, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Anna (Rau) Brück. She was raised with her three sisters in Offenbach, Germany during World War II. Inge chose to study dance and was a professional dancer in her younger years. On January 16, 1954, in Offenbach, Germany, she married the love of her life, John A. Norton who was serving in the United States Air Force. Inge was very involved with the NCOA and assisted with social events for military members, spouses and their families. John and Inge were stationed at Westover AFB in 1968, where they decided to purchase a home and make Chicopee their final destination after John’s retirement. After their final assignment in Germany, John retired at Hahn AFB Germany and they returned to their home on Deslauriers St. in Chicopee in 1976. Her beloved husband of over 29 years, MSGT John A. Norton was Called Home on May 16, 1983. Inge was employed at the former Food Mart on Memorial Drive in Chicopee and retired in 1998. She was involved with the Food Mart Marketeers where she helped to organize many activities. She loved to travel and cruise the world with her companion, Michael Radowski of Chicopee. Besides her parents and husband, Inge was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Norton; and her dear sister, Margot Moosemann. She leaves her devoted daughters, Theresa M. Racine and her husband, Randy, of Spring Hill, TN and Cathy A. Luebke and her husband, Stefan, of Indianapolis, IN; her five cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Racine and her boyfriend, Ben Jordan-Careau, Amy Racine, Daniel Racine, Ed Dowden, IV and his wife, Rose, and Jonathan Campbell and his wife, Anna; her cherished great-grandson, Jaxon Dowden; her sisters, Maya Pohle and Liesel Rogner, both of Offenbach, Germany; her brother-in-law, Gordon L. Norton and his wife, Fran, of Centerville, MA; her sister-in-law, Mary Norton of Hopedale, MA; her nephews and nieces, Don and Jo Norton, Stephen and Lisa Norton, Melanie (Norton) McGovern, Greg and Kathy Norton, Heidi and Ludwig Roth, Anita and Peter Weber, and Jurgen Rogner. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, January 16, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, January 16, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
