Paul T. Coucci, 77, of New Bedford died Friday January 9, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gertrude F. "Trudy" (Crowe) Coucci.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Guido and Mary (Borghi) Coucci, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. Coucci was the owner and President of Guido's Plate Glass.
He was a graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School, where he was named outstanding athlete in his Senior year. He also attended Tufts University and served in the U.S. Army.
He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, and all of the Boston sports teams. He especially enjoyed going from game to game for all of his grandchildren's sporting events.
He was a member of the Reservation Golf Club and played football for many years with the Murphy Club.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy; four children, Paul T. Coucci, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Dartmouth, Guido J. Coucci of New Bedford, Stacey A. Marcotte and her husband George of South Windsor, CT, and Michael G. Coucci and his wife Jacqueline of New Bedford; his siblings, John L. Coucci and his wife Kathleen and Margaret M. Crowe and her husband Michael, all of Mattapoisett; nine grandchildren, Guido Jr., Jake, Ashley, Paul III, Nicolette, Alexander, Christopher, Olivia, and Julia; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 PM.
