Joseph R. McClellan, 32, of Londonderry, NH and formerly of Derry, NH passed away peacefully at Elliot Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends on January 8, 2015. Born on October 29, 1982 in Methuen, he was the son of Randy and Ann (Melia) McClellan. Joseph was raised in Derry, NH and attended Derry schools including Pinkerton Academy. In the past, Joe was employed by the International Tape Company, Demers Nursery and Landscaping, and most recently the Mobile/Exxon Company of Londonderry. Hiking, camping, gardening, and spending time with extensive family members and friends were Joe’s favorite past-times. Joe was a car enthusiast and could impress others with his extensive knowledge on the subject, as well as almost any other topic for discussion.
Joe will be lovingly remembered for his generous heart, selfless spirit, tremendous sense of humor and ability to develop friendships with complete strangers.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Martin F. Melia, paternal grandparents, Richard McClellan and Marion Jean McClellan; uncles, Martin G. Melia and Rick McClellan, and aunt Linda Barrish. In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his partner in life, Matthew Bernard, maternal grandmother, Jane E. Melia, brothers Patrick (Kathryn) McClellan and Brian, his sister Meaghan (Richard) Ivey, and niece Evelyn Ivey; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours were held at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry on Monday, January 12th from 4 - 8pm. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry on Tuesday at 10:00am. The burial followed in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry.
