Mary Ann (Peterson) Reid

Mary "Ann" was born on May 2, 1924 at the former Jordan Hospital, Plymouth, MA, also with her twin sister Florence "Jane" Peterson ("Wicks). Ann was the daughter of the late James and Mabel (MacDonald) Peterson. She was the beloved mother of Kathleen Balboni (John), Holly Carr (Edward), Shelly Jitiam (Jeik, deceased), John Reid III (Kerry), Margaret Reid Gallagher (Michael) and Rebecca Vuilleumier (Glen). She was the loving grandmother of Nathaniel, twins Spencer and Trevor and deceased Ross Balboni, twins Ned and Grady Carr, Jacklyn Gervais, Jade Jitiam and Amy Jitiam, Kaitlyn Harrison, Matthew Gallagher and Chandler, Kelton and Madison Vuilleumier and 5 great grand children. Ann's sister Josephine Nava resides in Kingston, her half-brother John Peterson and half-sister Emily Loring are deceased. Ann attended Duxbury Schools and graduated in the class of 1941. After attending the Chandler School in Boston, she worked for the Plymouth Cordage Co. during the World War II years. In 1947, Ann married John (Jack) Reid, from North Quincy, deceased in 1993. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Ann was employed for 18 years at the Duxbury Post Office. After retiring, Jack and Ann enjoyed winters in Apopka FL. Ann was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Duxbury. She also was a long time active member in the Duxbury American Legion Auxiliary (past President) the former Duxbury Senior Club and in the Friends of the Duxbury Council on Aging. Ann was an Alden Kindred Society of America Member, and proud of her lineage to four pilgrims. She was proud of her close knit family ties. Family gatherings were held often and were well attended, they were a favorite of Ann's. Ann moved to Kingston in 1997 to live with her daughter Holly and family. At that time she joined the Kingston Council on Aging and the Jones River Historical Society.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church Duxbury, on Tuesday, January 13, at 11:00AM, internment will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the donation of your choice in Mary Ann Reid's name.
