Obituary

DUDLEY - Joseph C. Miskiewicz, 82, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at home surrounded by his family after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Esther B. (Martin) Miskiewicz; 2 daughters, Ann M. Quinn and her husband Paul of West Boylston, and Kathy L. Flynn and her husband Kevin of Leicester; 3 grandchildren, Timothy and Meghan Connor and Brittany Flynn; and a sister, Rose A. Dumais of Dudley.
He was born in Dudley, the son of Charles J. and Anna M. (Lukaszek) Miskiewicz and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1950 where he was a three-letter varsity athlete.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184.
Mr. Miskiewicz was a purchasing agent and consultant for Olektron Corporation before he retired in 1995. Having taught himself computer skills, he installed the company’s first computer system.
He was a communicant of St. Andrew Bobola Church. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians as a pitcher and first baseman, and was active in local sports leagues most of his life. He enjoyed playing tennis and sailing on High Pond with his daughter Kathy. He was a jack of all trades and master of several: he built his own home and installed the electricity and plumbing himself. He also was gifted at completing home improvements. Above all, his treasure was his family.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 7, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:45 to 10:15 AM Wednesday in the funeral home.
