Nettie V. (Edgerton) Williams, 86, of N. 5th Ave., Taftville, died Sunday evening at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich after being stricken at her home. She was the wife of the late Cecil M. Williams who died in 1982.
Born in New London in 1918, she was the daughter of Henry and Angeline (Crouch) Edgerton. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as Capart Cabinets in Norwich and the former Dew Drop Inn in No. Stonington.
Known as an active and vibrant lady, Mrs. Williams enjoyed walking and spending time with her special friend and companion, George.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sarah I. Williams of Griswold, 4 grandchildren, Robin Cousens of Sterling, Maurice Williams of No. Stonington, Michele Christensen of Westerly, and Donald Williams of Griswold; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Edgerton and James Edgerton, her twins sister, Bertha Crouch of Norwich and another sister, Inez Coleman of Norwich. She was predeceased by her children, Maurice C. Williams and Ruth E. Roath; and a sister, Angeline Crouch..
Her funeral service will be conducted at the Second Baptist Church, No. Stonington on Monday at 2pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard. There are no visiting hours.
