Obituary

Sampson, Laura Frances (Collingsworth) 94, of Plymouth passed away peacefully at home on December 28. Laura, the wife of the late Clifford E. Sampson, Sr., is survived by her daughter, Sandra Maccaferri and her husband Don, of South Carolina; her son Clifford E. Sampson, Jr., and his wife Catherine, of Plymouth; grandchildren Randy Maccaferri, Stacy Murphy, and Benjamin Sampson; and, great grandchildren Ryan and Brad Maccaferri.

Laura was born in Lexington, KY, the daughter of the late Albert and May (Adams) Collingsworth and sister of the late Jeannette (Collingsworth) Boyd, Lexington, KY. After attending Transylvania College, Laura joined the United States Navy and served during WWII. Laura and Cliff were married in 1944 while serving in the Navy and returned to Plymouth following the war. She worked for the Plymouth School Department and was a member of the Church of The Pilgrimage, past president of the Women’s Guild, past president of the Plymouth Garden Club, a life member of the Antiquarian Society, member of the Pilgrim Society, and a member of the Black and White Club. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Pilgrimage, Town Square Plymouth on January 16, 2015, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s memory may be made to the Church of The Pilgrimage
