James C. Mixon, 50, of Ocilla, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with several friends speaking. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Mixon was born July 30, 1964, in Ocilla, Georgia to Myrtle Lee Griffin Mixon and the late Herman Carroll Mixon, Sr. A 1982 graduate of Irwin County High School, he formerly worked with Modern Fibers. He was a road construction supervisor for Everett Dykes Grassing Company. He loved to fish and enjoyed spending time at his farm, where he raised cows and chickens.
Mr. Mixon is survived by his wife: Dawn Redus Mixon of Fitzgerald; son: Michael & Heather Coffey of Braselton; two grandchildren: Blake & Mia; his mother: Myrtle Lee Griffin Mixon of Ocilla; a sister: Cathy Golden of Tifton; a brother: Carroll & Lynn Mixon of Chula as well as nieces and nephews that dearly loved him.
The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to Hospice Care Options, 121 N. Cherry Street, Ocilla, GA 31774, or to a Diabetes Education Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
